OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE NEW BUILDING AT EVANGELISCHES KRANKENHAUS ALSTERDORF

Individuals facing emotionally challenging situations, some in existential crises, require special human sensitivity and an environment that optimally supports both body and mind. At Evangelisches Krankenhaus Alsterdorf, these individuals will soon receive even better care: the Psychiatry and Psychotherapy departments will soon move to a new building, which will also house the Epilepsy Intensive Monitoring—one of the largest facilities of its kind nationwide—and the geriatric day clinic.

On Monday, January 29, 2024, the Senator for Labor, Health, Social Affairs, Family, and Integration of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Ms. Melanie Schlotzhauer, the Medical Executive of the Evangelische Stiftung Alsterdorf (ESA), Mr. Ulrich Scheibel, the Managing Director of Evangelisches Krankenhaus Alsterdorf (EKA), Mr. Michael Schmitz, and around 250 other companions had the opportunity to personally experience the new facilities during the ceremonial inauguration. With the aforementioned friendly words of greeting, it became clear what a significant milestone Evangelisches Krankenhaus Alsterdorf has achieved with the expansion of the psychiatric department, now directly connected to the hospital for people with disabilities, and the further development of acute psychiatric care. This aims to better fulfill the special inclusive care mandate for people with and without disabilities.

During the guided tours, we had the opportunity to explain where our planning office focused its attention, ensuring that the new building for the psychiatric department of Evangelisches Krankenhaus Alsterdorf becomes a place where individuals in particularly sensitive situations of their lives can receive support, guidance, security, and protection.

We are delighted with the positive feedback from the participating guests, including comments on our overall concept, warm color and material selection, and the excellent perception that the collaboration—despite the mentioned challenges of a construction project with significant external influences during the Corona pandemic and the Ukraine war—has always been professional and solution-oriented.

We are not finished yet—there is still much to do until all areas of the new building can gradually be put into operation. However, we are on the home stretch and are working diligently to support our client in this discipline.
