SPECIAL AWARD FOR KONSTANTIN HAASE
Congratulations to Konstantin Haase! Our former dual student and colleague has successfully completed his architecture studies and, after passing his final exams, has earned his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree, now joining our team as an engineer!
We are thrilled for him and with him, as he has successfully reached this important milestone in his education—not only with an excellent degree but also with a special honor:
Five graduates from the architecture program at Hochschule 21, with which we have cooperated for several years as a practical partner for architecture students, were recognized for their outstanding thesis projects. In addition to their Bachelor of Engineering degrees, they also received special awards. The jury from the Lüneburg district group of the Federation of German Architects (BDA) was highly impressed by their work and awarded one first prize, two second prizes, and two commendations as part of the BDA Study Prize—an award for exceptional academic achievements in architecture.
Konstantin Haase was awarded the first prize for his concept "Leben im Fördespeicher," which proposes the repurposing of the former grain silos at the Flensburg Harbor East. His design aims to preserve the area’s characteristic structure rather than demolishing the buildings. He approaches each building individually, integrating it into both the urban context and the current and future use of the harbor area.
Through his design, he advocates for maintaining the industrial charm of the silos while introducing new façade elements that complement the historical substance. The project’s goal is also to breathe new life into the area by blending various uses. This approach greatly impressed the jury. They praised the successful implementation of sustainability principles in dealing with existing structures, Konstantin Haase's respectful handling of the architectural heritage, and the precise planning of the project in a complex site situation. He successfully merges historical references with contemporary architecture, creating a harmonious balance between the old and the new.
It’s wonderful to see that he was able to draw so much from his studies and his time with us as his practical partner and bring it into his final thesis…
Congratulations, dear Konstantin! You can be proud of yourself—and we are very happy to have you on our team even after your dual studies!
Wishing you all the best for the future!
