Human. Space. Time. – AWARD euroterra. ARCHITECTURE AWARD
We have waited a long tiime for the award ceremony of the euroterra. Architectural Prize for young planners together with the applicants, jury members and award winners and to celebrate the projects and award winners. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, this was not possible for us in the context that we had imagined for an appropriate event in a timely manner to the award date and the jury meeting.
But now the time had finally come: On November 17, 2022, we were able to present Peter Haslinger, Simon Takasaki and Oliver Thiedmann from HTT ARCHITEKTEN with the prize stele for the first-place "New building of a special education center in Friedrichshulde". Which location was more appropriate for the handover than Friedrichshulde in Schenefeld, close to Hamburg. We were very pleased that we were able to personally invite and get to know the first-place winners, also Sabine Birkhoff and Matthias Wiggers, managers of the Friedrichshulde education center and also their colleagues and some of the children. We could not have imagined a more suitable location for the award ceremony with the people who use the premises on a daily basis. This was also reflected in the words of thanks from HTT architects. They mentioned that they were impressed of the euroterra. Architecture Prize and expressly of the very special topic.
The jury, consisting of the jury chairman Mr. Kinz, freelance architect and former chairman of the BDA Hamburg, Prof. Dr. Graf, Chairman of the Board and Medical Director of the University Hospital in Frankfurt, Dr. Mau, then managing director of the Essen-Mitte clinics, Mr. Prölß, director of care at the Hamburg-Eppendorf university clinic, and pastor Frank Engelbrecht, pastor of the main church of St. Nikolai Hamburg, represented only by the lFrank Engelbrecht and Marc Ewers, organizer of the architecture prize, due to the short-term implementation. For professional reasons, it was unfortunately also not possible for the second-placed prizewinner Paola Maghenzani and special prizewinner Philipp Knaus to make the journey from Lecce, Italy, and Würzburg to Schleswig-Holstein. But that doesn't mean she and the projects have to waive the stealing of prizes - they'll both come to them in other ways now.
We would like to thank all applicants, jury members, award winners, the Hamburg Museum, design office Ness1 and metal sculpture Attila Muranyi for this special time - we were very happy and are excited that the euroterra. Architecture prize for young planners “Human. Space. Time" - Functional Architecture of Buildings in Health Care / Hospital Construction" has been so well recommended. We hope that with this prize we can draw the attention of architecture more to the "people in the center" and away from the predominantly external form. If this works, especially with functional architecture, e.g. in healthcare and industrial buildings, then we have achieved a lot. Exactly this approach, an award for architecture with the focus "People in focus" was a real matter of the heart for us.
