ALMOST COMPLETE! THE OPERATING ROOMS AT THE ISRAELITE HOSPITAL HAMBURG ARE NEARLY COMPLETE

A first milestone achieved: the new operating rooms of the Israelite Hospital Hamburg are taking shape.

With the construction of the two main ORs, a clear, contemporary architectural language is emerging—one that combines highly functional workflows with the requirements of hygiene and technical precision. OR 1 is already in operation, while OR 2 and the previously missing or undersized ancillary rooms will follow in spring 2026.

The aim of the project is the comprehensive renewal of the technical infrastructure and the restructuring of the entire front OR area. The new spatial organization creates optimal conditions for robot-assisted procedures, improves supply and disposal processes, and—for the first time—adds adequately sized supporting rooms to the OR area, including a meeting room, documentation stations, and a modern break room.
The defining elements of the new architecture are the floor-to-ceiling glass walls, which give the operating rooms a sense of spaciousness, transparency, and precise spatial geometry. Their smooth, low-joint surfaces meet the highest hygiene requirements. They are complemented by large daylight windows that bring natural light deep into the rooms, creating a noticeably more relaxed and ergonomic working environment for the OR team.

A continuous cove light as indirect ceiling illumination subtly highlights the glass surfaces, emphasizes the clarity of the design, and supports a calm, focused working atmosphere. Through the interplay of natural light, precise lighting design, and consistent materiality, an OR area emerges that unifies openness, functionality, and architectural quality in a coherent overall concept.
